We can cater to large groups. Your next field trip could be one for the memory books!
To address the rapidly changing world in which we live, it is imperative that children become flexible thinkers and STEM literate. Active learning experiences set with real-world content present children with problem-solving challenges that nurture deep understandings about how the world works and what they can do to influence their own future.
Play experiences, both child-directed and guided, help to build the skills necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarden academics and later throughout the school years. Our School Readiness Initiative builds the following skill sets: Conceptual Thinking, Language, Spatial Awareness, Self-Regulation, Creative & Flexible Thinking, Social Skills, Number Knowledge, and Healthy Bodies.
Financial literacy comes naturally through play as kids experience the concepts of buying, spending, and earning Playseum dollars. Many of our interactive areas offer a kid-sized environment to develop an economic perspective of the world they live in.
Arts and Culture thrive in a variety of our Cityshops and throughout our activity bars helping children to develop an appreciation of the world around them! The performing arts are emphasized in our Theater. We encourage kids to dress up and put on a show! Opportunity for participation in visual art through various mediums can be found in our Art Room. Creating art allows children to express themselves and helps develop emotional, motor, and problem-solving skills essential to them in their daily lives.
We work hard to engage the five senses to trigger the stimulation and storage of memories. Through the interactive experience provided by each room of the Playseum, not only do children learn but they remember what they learn.
Children learn healthy habits at an early age from the example set by the adults around them. Engaging in healthy play reduces the risk of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression and other serious health problems. Physical and creative play also helps children develop control over their muscles and emotions. It is also important to teach children to include fruits and vegetables in their day. Although the Playseum is a destination for special treats, we strive to offer a fruit or veggie snack as a free group activity following our morning story time.
The general admission for a school field trip is $15 per child and $10 per adult. You will need to put a deposit down of $100.00. The general admission includes access to all of our pretend Cityshops where kids use their imagination, play dress-up, and visit our live pet shop.
For groups of children that are 3 years and older we strongly suggest adding on the following:
Ice and Decorate a Cookie

Mix up your own Candy Lip Balm $3 Each
For groups of children that are 5 years and older we strongly suggest adding on the following:

For field trips with children ages 8 years and older you must purchase a minimum of 6 Playseum Dollars for each child. The children will then get to pick and choose their own items to make at the various Interactive Stations
We ask that you treat our facility with kindness and respect. Please make it clear to your students and chaperones that props and toys need to be returned to where they were found before leaving each Cityshop (themed area) so that the next field trip group, or other Playseum guests can enjoy each room as much as they have!
The Playseum is meant to be a place filled with laughter, singing, dancing and movement! If students from your field trip become a negative disruption to others or our property you may be asked to leave our building and denied future field trips at the Playseum. Your school/daycare/camp will be responsible for damages.
We ask that there is at least a 1:6 ratio of chaperones to kids. If children are under 3 years of age the ratio must be 1:3. If you do not bring the appropriate number of chaperones you will be denied entry but charged for the field trip. Your chaperones are recommended to be engaged with their groups by refraining from using their phones and promoting the use of imaginative play within the Cityshops.
We can accommodate field trips of up to 55 children. Safety and supervision is important to us, therefore chaperones must be 18 years or older.
The time allotted is 2 hours maximum. You may come in from 10am to 12pm or 12pm to 2pm as long as there is availability. Field trips must be scheduled in advance.
If you would like to all remain in the Playseum facility you may choose to utilize our Party room as an area to eat your lunches for a $30 fee. You will be able to rotate your group throughout the two hour time of the field trip. Our party room sits 15 at a time.
Email or call us at children@playseum.com or 301-807-8028 to verify your preferred date and availability.
If the date you want is available and you would like to proceed, we will send you a preliminary letter and invoice.
